Hawaii Minimum Wage Law
Employers in Hawaii must conform with these state rules regarding the minimum wage paid to employees.
The minimum wage rate in Hawaii is $7.25 per hour.
Employees are covered by Hawaii's minimum wage law, except those employed:
- at a monthly guaranteed salary of at least $2,000
- in agriculture in workweeks in which less than 20 workers are employed
- in domestic employment
- by certain relatives
- in a bona fide executive, administrative, professional or supervisory capacity
- as outside salespersons or collectors
- in the fishing industry
- as seamen
- as drivers of vehicles for hire operating on call from a fixed stand
- as golf caddies
- as student workers by nonprofit schools
- as employees subject to minimum wage and maximum hours provisions of the federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)
- as resident staff members at seasonal youth camps
- any automobile salesperson employed by a licensed car or truck dealer
