Hawaii Overtime Pay Law

Employers in Hawaii must conform with these state rules regarding overtime pay for employees.

In Hawaii, employees must be paid at least one and one-half times their regular rate for hours in excess of 40 a week.

Exemptions From the General Overtime Provision

Employees with guaranteed compensation of at least $2,000 per month are exempt from Hawaii's overtime rules.

Exemptions also exist for employees engaged in the processing of:

• dairy products
• sugar cane
• agricultural and horticultural products
• poultry and livestock
• seasonal agricultural products
