The Kansas Clean Indoor Air Act prohibits smoking in public places and any enclosed place of employment.
Employers covered: Employers with one or more employees.
Written policy requirements: Employers having a place of employment that is an enclosed area must adopt and maintain a written policy prohibiting smoking in all places of employment.
Posting requirements: Signs indicating that smoking is prohibited must be clearly and conspicuously posted by the proprietor or other person in charge.
No smoking areas: Kansas prohibits smoking in public areas, other than areas permitted to be designated as smoking areas. Smoking is specifically prohibited in daycare homes during hours of operation.
Employers having a place of employment that is an enclosed area must provide a smoke-free workplace for all employees.
Employers may also prohibit or impose restrictions on smoking in places of employment.
