Restrictions on Firing Employees in Kentucky
Employers in Kentucky are subject to these state rules that restrict firing employees under certain circumstances.
Kentucky laws make it unlawful for an employer to:
- fail to allow employees time off to vote
- fail to allow employees time off to serve on jury duty
- fire employees for attending a required hearing or other official proceeding
- deny equal employment opportunity
- violate protections for veterans or reservists
- retaliate against an employee for filing a safety complaint or a wage complaint
- fire an employee for having wages garnished
