Restrictions on Firing Employees in Louisiana
Employers in Louisiana are subject to these state rules that restrict firing employees under certain circumstances.
Louisiana laws make it unlawful for an employer to:
- fire employees because of jury service
- retaliate against an employee who reports environmental violations
- fire employees who invoke the law
- violate protections for veterans or reservists
- fire or discriminate against employees who file workers' compensation claims or who have wages withheld for child support
- deny equal employment opportunity
