Employers in Maine must comply with these state requirements when making the final wage payment to terminated employees.
In Maine, an employee leaving employment must be paid in full within a reasonable time after demand.
Reasonable time means the earlier of the next day that the employee would regularly be paid or a day not more than two weeks after the day the demand is made.
A loan or advance against future earnings or wages may be deducted if evidenced by a written statement signed by the employee.
Vacation pay is treated as wages.
