Employers in Michigan must comply with these state requirements when making the final wage payment to terminated employees
In Michigan, an employee who voluntarily quits must be paid all wages earned and due, as soon as the amount can with due diligence be determined.
An employee who has been discharged must be paid all wages earned and due immediately, as soon as the amount can with due diligence be determined.
These provisions do not apply to employees working under contract who voluntarily leave or are discharged from employment if the amount due cannot be determined until the termination of the contract. Discharged employees must be paid all wages earned as nearly as they can be estimated. For employees who voluntarily leave and for employees who are discharged, final payment must be made in full at the termination of the contract.
Employees engaged in the hand harvesting of crops must be paid as soon as the amount can with due diligence be determined, but no later than three days after an employee's voluntary termination.
