Montana Wage Payment Timing Requirements

Employers in Montana must comply with these state rules regarding the timing and frequency of wage payments.

Montana 's wage payment law applies to all employers except agricultural employers and those who have entered into collective bargaining contracts.

Wages must be paid at least every 10 business days, except for professional, supervisory, or technical employees who by custom are paid at least monthly.

A five-day holdback is permitted.

Employers may pay wages due in the ensuing pay period when an employee submits a time sheet after the employer's deadline for processing time sheets for a particular pay period.
