Restrictions on Firing Employees in Nebraska
Employers in Nebraska are subject to these state rules that restrict firing employees under certain circumstances.
Nebraska laws make it unlawful for an employer to:
- fire an employee because of jury duty
- require an employee to take a polygraph test
- fail to permit employees time off to vote
- deny equal employment opportunity
- violate protections for veterans or reservists
- retaliate against employees who report violations of fair employment laws
- fire an employee for having wages withheld for child support or other garnishment
