Restrictions on Firing Employees in Nevada
Employers in Nevada are subject to these state rules that restrict firing employees under certain circumstances.
Nevada laws make it unlawful for an employer to:
- interfere with employees' political activities
- fire employees during a pending arbitration
- fail to permit employees time off to vote
- fire employees on the report of a "spotter" without a hearing
- deny equal employment opportunity
- violate protections for veterans or reservists
- retaliate against an employee for filing a safety, wage, or employment practices complaint
- require an employee to take a polygraph test
- fire an employee for having wages withheld for child support or other garnishment
