Time Off for Voting Rules in New Jersey

New Jersey employers must provide employees with time off to vote in accordance with these state rules.

New Jersey does not have a general law on providing employees time off to vote. However, employers are prohibited from making use or threatening to make use of force, violence or restraint, or inflicting or threatening to inflict injury, damage, harm or loss against any employee in order to induce or compel an employee to vote or refrain from voting for any particular candidate, or because an employee voted or refrained from voting for any particular candidate at any election.
