North Dakota Rules for Employing Minors

Employers in North Dakota must conform with these state rules relating to the employment of minors.

A minor between the ages of 14 and 16 in North Dakota may not be employed in any occupation except farm labor or domestic service unless:

A certificate permitting the employment of a minor during the school term, but not during the daily period of the school session, may be granted if the minor maintains a passing grade in all studies.

Special rules apply for performers under the age of 16.
