Drug Testing in Oregon

Drug testing by employers in Oregon is governed by these state rules.

Tests used in Oregon to detect substance abuse must be performed in a licensed laboratory by qualified technical personnel. The results of this type of test are to be reported to the person who submitted the specimen (most likely the employer).

All positive test results must be confirmed using a test designated by the Health Division for confirmatory testing.

If any substance abuse testing is done outside of the state, the person who uses the out-of-state test has the burden of showing that the test was performed using procedures that meet or exceed Oregon testing standards.
