Workplace Smoking Rules in Oregon

Employers in Oregon must comply with these state rules regulating smoking in the workplace.

In Oregon smoking is prohibited in places of employment, except for designated areas. Employers must provide a place of employment that is free of tobacco smoke for all employees.

Posting requirements: Employers must post signs that provide notice of the no smoking provisions, except in areas where smoking is permitted by law.

No smoking areas: A person may not smoke or carry any lighted smoking instrument in a public place or place of employment except in areas designated as smoking areas by law. The prohibited areas include entrances, exits, windows that open, and ventilation intakes that serve an enclosed area.
