South Dakota Wage Payment Timing Requirements

Employers in South Dakota must comply with these state rules regarding the timing and frequency of wage payments.

In South Dakota, cash wages due employees must be paid by employers at least once each calendar month unless otherwise provided by law, or on agreed upon paydays designated in advance.

Daily or weekly payment of wages is permitted.

Employees absent on payday must be paid on demand at the usual place of payment.

Striking employees must be paid on the next regular payday.
