Restrictions on Firing Employees in Tennessee
Employers in Tennessee are subject to these state rules that restrict firing employees under certain circumstances.
Tennessee laws make it unlawful for an employer to:
- not permit time off to vote
- discriminate against employees because of jury service
- deny equal employment opportunity
- terminate employees for refusing to participate in or remain silent about illegal activities
- retaliate against an employee for filing a safety complaint
- fire an employee for having wages withheld for child support
