Restrictions on Firing Employees in Utah
Employers in Utah are subject to these state rules that restrict firing employees under certain circumstances.
Utah laws make it unlawful for an employer to:
- discriminate against employee for testimony given in minimum wage or child labor law proceedings
- not permit time off to vote
- fire for union activity
- deny equal employment opportunity
- retaliate against an employee for filing a safety complaint
- fire an employee for having wages withheld for child support or for a single garnishment other than child support
