Vermont Wage Payment Timing Requirements

Employers in Vermont must comply with these state rules regarding the timing and frequency of wage payments.

In Vermont wages are to be paid weekly, with a holdover of six days permitted, but employees may be paid biweekly or semimonthly with a six-day holdover if a statement of intent is filed.

Union contracts may provide for an alternative holdover.

Employees absent on payday must be paid on demand.
