Virginia Wage Payment Timing Requirements

Employers in Virginia must comply with these state rules regarding the timing and frequency of wage payments.

In Virginia, wages must be paid at least once a month for salaried employees and at least twice a month for hourly-paid employees.

Hourly-paid employees who earn more than 150 percent of the state's average weekly wage may be paid monthly.

Students enrolled in a work study program may be paid once a month.
