Wage and Hour Law Posting Requirements

Federal and state wage and hour laws may require you to display posters in your workplace describing minimum wage and overtime pay requirements.

The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) requires employers who are covered by the federal wage and hour laws or who have covered employees to display a poster publicizing the federal minimum wage and overtime pay standards.

Employers can obtain the poster from their local Wage and Hour Division office. Check the Department of Labor website for the Wage and Hour Office nearest you. Posters are also available from the Department of Labor's poster center.

When you are ready to post the notice in your workplace you should make sure that employees see the poster as they come and go from work.

Tip

If you have a work site that is on the larger side, you should consider hanging these posters in the break room or on bulletin boards where employment-related information is regularly posted.

State Posting Requirements

Individual states may also have posting requirements that you'll have to comply with. Consult our state map for the wage and hour posting laws in your state.
